Claudia Castellucci - Compagnia Mòra

Dramaturg, choreographer and teacher. In 1981, Claudia Castellucci founded the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio with Romeo Castellucci and with Chiara and Paolo Guidi. In 1989, she started the Scuola teatrica della discesa, an experience in which she combined gymnastics with philosophical practice. In 2003 she founded Stoa, a school of rhythmic movement that lasted five years, in which are created Balli, dances based on an interpretation of movement that considered time as the main dimension. In 2015 she created the Mòra School, which became a Company in 2019. Claudia Castellucci received the Silver Lion for the Dance Section at the 2020 Venice Biennale.

Verso la specie.
Ballo della Compagnia Mòra

The title contains a choreographic intention: Towards the Species! That is, to trace and reproduce the emergence of essential and general images, just defined enough to be distinguished. The search for rhythm draws on the metrics of archaic Greek poetry, from which certain metrical feet are selected. The animal aspect of rhythm, instead, is derived from the movement of horses.
Dance becomes a revelation of individual presence, which stands out from and thanks to collective movement. Music is the propulsive origin of this dance, with a composition that grew together with the movement, step by step.

The performance was part of the Public Programme 2021, the cycle of public events of the Nomadic School. Originally scheduled for the evening of 28 August 2021, due to adverse weather conditions the performance took place on the morning of 29 August at the Terrazza delle Stelle in Viote, Monte Bondone.
