Davide Tomat
Oriented towards “drone ambient” sounds, and experimental electronic music with IDM influences, he has co-founded Superbudda Creative Collective and the a/v project SPIME.IM. Tomat has released records for Berlin’s !K7 Records, for Zurich’s OUS Records label and for London’s Monotreme Records label. He curates the music and sound design of MASBEDO and OHT. In 2021, he has been awarded the Fabrique du Cinema for his Mondo Cane’s OST.
Davide Tomat proposes a mantric and circular experience with mountain choirs. Developed from the experience of OHT’s work 19 July 1985, with the direction and supervision of choir master Luigi Azzolini, the project unfolds from a selection of fragments of traditional mountain songs, reiterated and interwoven with one another. The choir’s voices and Tomat’s work give rise to a dreamlike and spiritual listening dimension, close to the experience of ambient electronic music yet entirely acoustic, immersed in the sounds of nature.
The performance Il Passo del Respiro by Davide Tomat and Coro Sass Maor was part of the Public Programme 2022, the cycle of public events of the Nomadic School, and took place near the Vajolet refuge in the Dolomites (TN).
