Silvia Costa

Artist, director, and performer, Silvia Costa develops a visual and poetic theater, grounded in a deep reflection on the role of images, their meaning, and their impact on the audience. Her works are regularly presented at major Italian and international festivals. Since 2020, she has been a member of the multidisciplinary ensemble at La Comédie de Valence.

Lingering is the theme proposed by Silvia Costa as a way of entering into relation with the Alpine space and its apparent immobility. Stopping, delaying action, decision or event become ways of looking at a landscape that lives according to its own time and rhythm, observing how elements manifest and compose themselves autonomously and without pretension.
The workshop develops a path focused on looking and on activating our attention, in order to intuit what, of what stands before us, can become narration, invention, image. The proposed exercises work on gaze, time and the postures of bodies in space to create fragments of narration. The very time of observation becomes a scenic construction.

The workshop unfolded alongside the encounter with Dehlia Hannah and continued in the evening with a reading session around the fire. The readings included excerpts from The Psychoanalysis of Fire by Gaston Bachelard, passages from Frankenstein. Or The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, and the short story To Build a Fire by Jack London.
